The Newton Local Indians basketball team scored 48 points and held the host Riverside Pirates to 38 in the Indians non-league triumph on Monday.

The Indians now sport a 1-0 record. They put it on the line next when they host Arcanum for a Western Ohio contest on Thursday, November 30. Newton Local will meet a Trojans team coming off a 51-44 non-league win over Fort Recovery (Fort Recovery, OH). The Trojans record now stands at 1-0.

The Pirates (0-1) will now prepare for their contest against Graham Local (St. Paris, OH). The Falcons enter the non-league contest with a 1-1 record. In their last contest, Graham Local ran past Piqua (Piqua, OH), 44-41, in a non-league contest.
