In Friday's non-league contest, the host Dakota Cougars ice hockey team scored a close 8-2 victory over the Cheboygan Chiefs.
The Cougars (4-0) will now prepare for their contest against Mattawan (Mattawan, MI). The Wildcats go into the non-league contest with a 3-1 record. In their last contest, Mattawan edged Portage Northern (Portage, MI), 4-2, in a league contest.
In their next game, the Chiefs play the Milford Mavericks (Highland, MI) in a non-league contest, on Saturday, November 30. Cheboygan will attempt to better on its 0-5 season record.
