Northwood Evergreens (Minong, WI) backers were pleased Thursday as they saw their basketball squad hold off the visiting Mellen Granite Diggers (Mellen, WI), 51-48 in a non-league bout.

With the victory, Northwood upgrades its record to 1-1 on the campaign. The Evergreens travel to Bruce (Bruce, WI) to play the Red Raiders in a non-league bout on Tuesday, December 5. The Red Raiders come into the bout with a record of 0-2. Bruce lost 73-52 in their recent non-league bout against Cameron (Cameron, WI)

Next up, the Granite Diggers play the South Shore Cardinals (Port Wing, WI) in a Indianhead bout, on Monday, December 4. Mellen will attempt to upgrade on its 0-1 season record. The Cardinals come into the bout with a 0-1 record after their 77-35 non-league loss to Winter (Winter, WI).
