Newton Eagles (Newton, IL) backers were in high spirits Thursday as they witnessed their basketball squad tip the host Paris Tigers (Paris, IL), 37-30 in a league bout.

With the win, Newton upgrades its record to 1-0 on the season. The Eagles travel to Charleston (Charleston, IL) to play the Trojans in a non-league bout on Saturday, February 3. The Trojans go into the bout with a record of 0-1.

Next up, the Tigers play the Marshall Lions (Marshall, IL) in a bout, on Monday, December 4. Paris will attempt to upgrade on its 0-2 season record.
