Fans at Thursday's non-league contest between the Palma Chieftains (Salinas, CA) and the visiting Crystal Springs Uplands Gryphons (Hillsborough, CA), observed Palma's volleyball team hold off Crystal Springs Uplands by a count of 3-2.

The Chieftains (13-12) will now prepare for their contest against Summit Shasta (Daly City, CA). The Black Bears enter the non-league contest with a 25-8 record. In their last battle, Summit Shasta tipped Santa Catalina (Monterey, CA), 3-0, in a non-league battle.

The Gryphons now own a 8-14 record.
