Texas High School Basketball - Mercedes nips Weslaco

Mercedes Tigers (Mercedes, TX) backers were in high spirits Thursday as they witnessed their basketball squad tip the host Weslaco Panthers (Weslaco, TX), 54-53 in a non-league bout.

With the win, Mercedes upgrades its record to 3-0 on the season. The Tigers travel to Pharr-San Juan-Alamo (San Juan, TX) to play the Bears in a non-league bout on Friday, November 10. The Bears go into the bout with a record of 0-3. Pharr-San Juan-Alamo lost 79-29 in their recent non-league bout against Veterans Memorial (Brownsville, TX)

Next up, the Panthers play the Tuloso-Midway Warriors (Corpus Christi, TX) in a non-league bout, on Friday, November 10. Weslaco will attempt to upgrade on its 2-1 season record. The Warriors go into the bout with a 0-2 record after their 73-45 non-league loss to Mercedes (Mercedes, TX).
