The Effingham Flaming Hearts basketball team scored 69 points and held the visiting Mt. Vernon Rams to 63 in the Flaming Hearts non-league triumph on Thursday.

The Flaming Hearts now sport a 5-1 record. They put it on the line next when they host North Clay/Clay City for a non-league contest on Saturday, December 3. Effingham will battle a team coming off a 61-27 league loss to Neoga (Neoga, IL). The record now stands at 4-1.

The Rams (5-3) will now prepare for their contest against Alton (Alton, IL). The Redbirds enter the non-league contest with a 4-0 record. In their last contest, Alton nudged Edwardsville (Edwardsville, IL), 55-42, in a league contest.
