Newton Tigers (Newton, MS) backers were in high spirits Friday as they witnessed their basketball squad thwart the host Southeast Lauderdale Tigers (Meridian, MS), 55-35 in a non-league bout.

With the win, Newton upgrades its record to 7-1 on the season. The Tigers travel to Northeast Lauderdale (Meridian, MS) to play the Trojans in a non-league bout on Tuesday, December 5. The Trojans go into the bout with a record of 4-2. Northeast Lauderdale won 75-49 in their recent non-league bout against Kemper County (DeKalb, MS)

Next up, the Tigers play the Heidelberg Oilers (Heidelberg, MS) in a non-league bout, on Tuesday, December 5. Southeast Lauderdale will attempt to upgrade on its 2-4 season record. The Oilers go into the bout with a 1-4 record after their 59-45 non-league loss to Quitman (Quitman, MS).
