Pennsylvania High School Basketball - Ellwood City nips Laurel

December 1, 2025: New Castle, PA 16101

In Monday's non-league contest, the visiting Ellwood City Wolverine basketball squad scored a tight 67-64 victory over the Laurel Spartans.

With the victory, Ellwood City advances its record to 3-0 on the year. The Wolverine travel to Washington (Washington, PA) to face the Prexies in a non-league match on Thursday, December 4. The Prexies enter the match with a record of 1-2. Washington lost 71-62 in their recent non-league match against River Valley (Blairsville, PA)

The Spartans now own a 1-1 record. They play next when they host Mercer for a non-league contest on Saturday, December 6. Laurel will battle a Mustangs team coming off a 70-38 non-league win over Perry Traditional Academy (Pittsburgh, PA). The Mustangs record now stands at 1-0.
