Groveton Indians (Groveton, TX) backers were in high spirits Saturday as they witnessed their basketball squad tip the host Spurger Pirates (Spurger, TX), 53-47 in a non-league bout.

In their next game, the Indians face the Trinity Tigers (Trinity, TX) in a non-league game, on Tuesday, December 13. Groveton will attempt to move on its 8-6 season record. The Tigers enter the game with a 1-7 record after their 42-27 non-league loss to Centerville (Centerville, TX).

With the defeat, Spurger moves to 5-6 on the year. The Pirates travel to Leggett (Leggett, TX) to face the Pirates in a 1A Region IV District 28 game on Friday, December 16. The Pirates enter the game with a record of 3-12.
