Yorktown Wildcats (Yorktown, TX) backers were pleased Saturday as they saw their basketball squad hold off the host Mathis Pirates (Mathis, TX), 40-35 in a non-league bout.

With the victory, Yorktown upgrades its record to 7-10 on the campaign. The Wildcats host Woodsboro (Woodsboro, TX) to play the Eagles in a 2A Region IV District 31 bout on Tuesday, December 13. The Eagles come into the bout with a record of 2-7. Woodsboro lost 62-18 in their recent non-league bout against Edna (Edna, TX)

Next up, the Pirates play the San Diego Vaqueros (San Diego, TX) in a non-league bout, on Friday, December 16. Mathis will attempt to upgrade on its 10-7 season record.
