Alpena Wildcats (Alpena, MI) backers were in high spirits Monday as they witnessed their basketball squad thwart the visiting Elk Rapids Elks (Elk Rapids, MI), 67-54 in a non-league bout.

With the win, Alpena upgrades its record to 1-3 on the season. The Wildcats host Gaylord (Gaylord, MI) to play the Blue Devils in a Big North bout on Friday, December 15. The Blue Devils go into the bout with a record of 1-3. Gaylord won 72-35 in their recent non-league bout against Hillman (Hillman, MI)

Next up, the Elks play the St. Francis Gladiators (Traverse City, MI) in a Lake Michigan bout, on Friday, December 15. Elk Rapids will attempt to upgrade on its 1-5 season record. The Gladiators go into the bout with a 1-1 record after their 67-32 league win over East Jordan (East Jordan, MI).
