Maywood Academy Nighthawks (Maywood, CA) backers were pleased Monday as they saw their basketball squad hold off the host Mendez Jaguars (Los Angeles, CA), 40-38 in a non-league bout.

With the victory, Maywood Academy upgrades its record to 5-3 on the campaign. The Nighthawks host Verbum Dei (Los Angeles, CA) to play the Eagles in a non-league bout on Wednesday, December 14. The Eagles come into the bout with a record of 0-1. Verbum Dei lost 62-22 in their recent non-league bout against California (Whittier, CA)

Next up, the Jaguars play the North Hollywood Huskies (North Hollywood, CA) in a non-league bout, on Tuesday, January 3. Mendez will attempt to upgrade on its 3-1 season record.
