Pennsylvania High School Basketball - Union Area nips Blackhawk

December 12, 2023: New Castle, PA 16101

Union Area Scotties (New Castle, PA) backers were in high spirits Tuesday as they witnessed their basketball squad tip the visiting Blackhawk Cougars (Beaver Falls, PA), 68-64 in a non-league bout.

With the win, Union Area upgrades its record to 1-3 on the season. The Scotties host Quaker Valley (Leetsdale, PA) to play the Quakers in a non-league bout on Thursday, December 14. The Quakers go into the bout with a record of 2-2. Quaker Valley lost 68-61 in their recent non-league bout against Greater Latrobe (Latrobe, PA)

Next up, the Cougars play the Hopewell Vikings (Aliquippa, PA) in a WPIAL 4A 2 bout, on Friday, December 15. Blackhawk will attempt to upgrade on its 2-3 season record. The Vikings go into the bout with a 5-0 record after their 56-49 non-league win over Riverside (Ellwood City, PA).
