In Friday's non-league contest, the visiting Zavalla Eagles basketball team scored a big 64-27 triumph over the Colmesneil Bulldogs.

The Eagles (15-3) will now prepare for their game against Martinsville (Martinsville, TX). The Pirates go into the 1A Region IV District 27 game with a 6-9 record. In their last game, Martinsville was trounced by Union Grove (Gladewater, TX), 50-18, in a non-league game.

With the loss, Colmesneil falls to 4-8 on the campaign. The Bulldogs host Shelbyville (Shelbyville, TX) to confront the Dragons in a 2A Region III District 24 outing on Tuesday, December 16. The Dragons enter the outing with a record of 7-7. Shelbyville lost 53-39 in their recent non-league game against Henderson (Henderson, TX)
