The Newman Central Catholic Comets basketball team (Sterling, IL), was overwhelmed 51-24 in Monday's non-league battle with the host West Carroll Thunder (Savanna, IL)
The Thunder now possess a 5-5 record. They put it on the line next when they travel to Polo for a non-league battle on Thursday, December 16. West Carroll will confront a Marcos team coming off a 45-39 non-league loss to Pecatonica (Pecatonica, IL). The Marcos record now stands at 4-6.
The Comets (0-5) will now prepare for their battle against Oregon (Oregon, IL). The Hawks come into the non-league battle with a 3-10 record. In their last battle, Oregon was overwhelmed by River Ridge/Scales Mound (Hanover, IL), 59-18, in a non-league battle.
