Piute Thunderbirds (Junction, UT) followers were in high spirits Friday as they saw their basketball team nip the visiting Green River Pirates (Green River, UT), 45-42 in a non-league bout.

The Thunderbirds now possess a 2-4 record. They play next when they travel to Maeser Prep Academy for a non-league bout on Saturday, December 14. Piute will play a Lions team coming off a 43-40 non-league loss to Panguitch (Panguitch, UT). The Lions record now stands at 5-4.

With the loss, Green River falls to 2-4 on the campaign. The Pirates travel to Valley (Orderville, UT) to play the Buffalos in a non-league bout on Saturday, December 14. The Buffalos go into the bout with a record of 3-1. Valley won 60-56 in their recent non-league bout against Wendover (Wendover, UT)
