The Mount Vernon Tigers basketball squad (Mount Vernon, TX), was outscored 43-27 in Friday's non-league battle with the host Taylor Ducks (Taylor, TX)

With the victory, Taylor advances its record to 5-12 on the year. The Ducks travel to Mexia (Mexia, TX) to meet the Black Cats in a non-league battle on Saturday, December 14. The Black Cats enter the battle with a record of 6-4. Mexia lost 71-35 in their recent non-league battle against Martins Mill (Ben Wheeler, TX)

The Tigers now own a 7-6 record. They put it on the line next when they host Prairiland for a 3A Region II District 12 battle on Tuesday, December 17. Mount Vernon will meet a Patriots squad coming off a 79-47 league loss to Commerce (Commerce, TX). The Patriots record now stands at 9-8.
