In Saturday's non-league contest, the visiting Willis Wildkats basketball team scored a close 56-50 triumph over the Mickey Leland College Preparatory Academy for Young Men Knights.

The Wildkats (8-5) will now prepare for their contest against Cleveland (Cleveland, TX). The Indians go into the 6A Region II District 13 match with a 1-11 record. In their last match, Cleveland was nudged by Splendora (Splendora, TX), 55-49, in a non-league match.

The Knights now sport a 4-4 record. They put it on the line next when they travel to Washington for a 4A Region III District 20 match on Tuesday, December 16. Mickey Leland College Preparatory Academy for Young Men will face a Eagles team coming off a 95-65 non-league win over Bellaire (Bellaire, TX). The Eagles record now stands at 10-5.
