Arizona High School Basketball - Mingus succumbs to Payson

December 13, 2025: Cottonwood, AZ 86326

The Payson Longhorns defeated the host Mingus Marauders basketball team by a tally of 38-30 in Saturday's non-league bout.

The Longhorns now possess a 7-2 record. They play next when they host Florence for a non-league bout on Tuesday, December 16. Payson will play a Gophers team coming off a 48-15 non-league loss to Show Low (Show Low, AZ). The Gophers record now stands at 6-3.

With the loss, Mingus moves to 7-2 on the season. The Marauders travel to Coconino (Flagstaff, AZ) to clash with the Panthers in a 4A Grand Canyon bout on Tuesday, December 16. The Panthers go into the bout with a record of 2-2. Coconino lost 50-17 in their recent non-league test against Page (Page, AZ)
