In Saturday's non-league contest, the host Jarrell Cougars basketball team scored a close 53-48 win over the Mason Punchers.

The Cougars (13-5) will now prepare for their contest against Llano (Llano, TX). The Yellowjackets come into the non-league contest with a 4-8 record. In their last contest, Llano edged Marble Falls (Marble Falls, TX), 46-44, in a non-league contest.

Next up, the Punchers meet the Junction Eagles (Junction, TX) in a 2A Region IV District 29 battle, on Tuesday, December 17. Mason will attempt to advance on its 5-6 season record. The Eagles enter the battle with a 1-7 record after their 45-17 non-league loss to Menard (Menard, TX).
