Regina Regals (Iowa City, IA) backers were pleased Thursday as they saw their basketball squad hold off the host Mt. Vernon Mustangs (Mt. Vernon, IA), 48-44 in a non-league bout.

With the victory, Regina upgrades its record to 8-1 on the campaign. The Regals host Tipton (Tipton, IA) to play the Tigers in a River Valley - South bout on Friday, December 16. The Tigers come into the bout with a record of 3-4. Tipton won 59-48 in their recent non-league bout against Midland (Wyoming, IA)

Next up, the Mustangs play the Independence Mustangs (Independence, IA) in a non-league bout, on Tuesday, December 20. Mt. Vernon will attempt to upgrade on its 3-4 season record.
