Mayflower Eagles (Mayflower, AR) backers were pleased Friday as they saw their basketball squad hold off the host Shirley Blue Devils (Shirley, AR), 71-69 in a non-league bout.

With the victory, Mayflower upgrades its record to 4-4 on the campaign. The Eagles travel to Bald Knob (Bald Knob, AR) to play the Bulldogs in a non-league bout on Monday, December 18. The Bulldogs come into the bout with a record of 10-2. Bald Knob won 66-59 in their recent league bout against Pangburn (Pangburn, AR)

Next up, the Blue Devils play the West Side Eagles (Greers Ferry, AR) in a 1A Region 2 bout, on Tuesday, December 19. Shirley will attempt to upgrade on its 7-5 season record. The Eagles come into the bout with a 5-9 record after their 61-59 league loss to Timbo (Timbo, AR).
