Belmont Cardinals (Belmont, MS) backers were pleased Saturday as they saw their basketball squad hold off the visiting Cherokee Indians (Cherokee, AL), 56-55 in a non-league bout.

With the victory, Belmont upgrades its record to 8-4 on the campaign. The Cardinals travel to Phil Campbell (Phil Campbell, AL) to play the Bobcats in a non-league bout on Tuesday, December 19. The Bobcats come into the bout with a record of 4-10. Phil Campbell lost 69-43 in their recent non-league bout against Marion County (Guin, AL)

Next up, the Indians play the Wilson Warriors (Florence, AL) in a non-league bout, on Monday, December 18. Cherokee will attempt to upgrade on its 6-4 season record. The Warriors come into the bout with a 5-10 record after their 60-57 non-league loss to Covenant Christian (Tuscumbia, AL).
