Fans at Saturday's league challenge between the Gibbon-Fairfax-Winthrop Thunderbirds (Winthrop, MN) and the visiting Mayer Lutheran Crusaders (Mayer, MN), saw Gibbon-Fairfax-Winthrop's basketball squad knock off Mayer Lutheran by a count of 66-58.

With the victory, Gibbon-Fairfax-Winthrop upgrades its record to 3-2 on the campaign. The Thunderbirds travel to Buffalo Lake-Hector-Stewart (Hector, MN) to play the Mustangs in a A Section 2 challenge on Friday, January 6. The Mustangs come into the challenge with a record of 1-3.

Next up, the Crusaders play the St. Mary's Knights (Sleepy Eye, MN) in a non-league challenge, on Friday, February 24. Mayer Lutheran will attempt to upgrade on its 0-7 season record.
