Ocean Township Spartans (Oakhurst, NJ) backers were pleased Saturday as they saw their basketball squad hold off the visiting Point Pleasant Beach Garnet Gulls (Point Pleasant Beach, NJ), 78-72 in a non-league bout.

With the victory, Ocean Township upgrades its record to 1-1 on the campaign. The Spartans travel to Donovan Catholic (Toms River, NJ) to play the Griffins in a Shore C - South bout on Tuesday, December 20. The Griffins come into the bout with a record of 0-1. Donovan Catholic lost 82-39 in their recent non-league bout against Freehold Township (Freehold, NJ)

Next up, the Garnet Gulls play the Asbury Park Bishops (Asbury Park, NJ) in a Shore B - Central bout, on Tuesday, December 20. Point Pleasant Beach will attempt to upgrade on its 1-1 season record. The Bishops come into the bout with a 0-2 record after their 46-45 non-league loss to Brick Township (Brick, NJ).
