In Tuesday's non-league contest, the host Monroe Area Purple Hurricanes basketball team scored a good 54-42 triumph over the Oglethorpe County Patriots.

The Purple Hurricanes (2-6) will now prepare for their contest against Walnut Grove (Walnut Grove, GA). The Warriors go into the non-league contest with a 1-11 record. In their last contest, Walnut Grove was topped by Cedar Shoals (Athens, GA), 56-50, in a league contest.

In their next game, the Patriots confront the Banks County Leopards (Homer, GA) in a A D1 Region 8 contest, on Friday, December 20. Oglethorpe County will attempt to better on its 0-7 season record. The Leopards go into the contest with a 6-5 record after their 71-63 league win over Commerce (Commerce, GA).
