North Carolina High School Basketball - Mitchell holds off Brevard

December 17, 2025: Bakersville, NC 28705

The Mitchell Mountaineers basketball team scored 62 points and held the visiting Brevard Blue Devils to 55 in the Mountaineers non-league victory on Wednesday.

Next, the Mountaineers clash with the Owen Warhorses (Black Mountain, NC) in a Western Highlands 2A/3A outing, on Friday, December 19. Mitchell will attempt to upgrade on its 2-2 season record. The Warhorses enter the outing with a 8-1 record after their 60-48 league win over Avery County (Newland, NC).

The Blue Devils (0-4) will now prepare for their outing against North Henderson (Hendersonville, NC). The Knights enter the Mountain Eight 4A/5A outing with a 7-2 record. In their last outing, North Henderson was nipped by Pisgah (Canton, NC), 69-60, in a league outing.
