Oakton Cougars (Vienna, VA) backers were in high spirits Monday as they witnessed their basketball squad thwart the visiting West Springfield Spartans (Springfield, VA), 60-51 in a non-league bout.

With the win, Oakton upgrades its record to 4-2 on the season. The Cougars host Westfield (Chantilly, VA) to clash with the Bulldogs in a District 1 bout on Thursday, January 4. The Bulldogs go into the bout with a record of 4-5.

Next up, the Spartans clash with the Fairfax Lions (Fairfax, VA) in a District 4 bout, on Wednesday, December 20. West Springfield will attempt to upgrade on its 1-4 season record. The Lions go into the bout with a 4-2 record after their 61-50 league loss to Alexandria City (Alexandria, VA).
