Newton Tigers (Newton, MS) backers were in high spirits Monday as they witnessed their basketball squad tip the visiting Newton County Cougars (Decatur, MS), 30-25 in a non-league bout.

With the win, Newton upgrades its record to 11-2 on the season. The Tigers host Kemper County (DeKalb, MS) to play the Wildcats in a non-league bout on Thursday, December 21. The Wildcats go into the bout with a record of 3-2.

Next up, the Cougars play the Humphreys County Cowboys (Belzoni, MS) in a non-league bout, on Friday, December 22. Newton County will attempt to upgrade on its 4-5 season record. The Cowboys go into the bout with a 5-7 record after their 63-60 non-league win over South Delta (Rolling Fork, MS).
