With the victory, Phelps upgrades its record to 8-2 on the campaign. The Hornets travel to Cordia (Hazard, KY) to play the Lions in a non-league challenge on Thursday, January 4. The Lions come into the challenge with a record of 1-8.

Next up, the Buccaneers play the Cherokee Chiefs (Rogersville, TN) in a non-league challenge, on Tuesday, January 2. University will attempt to upgrade on its 1-6 season record. The Chiefs come into the challenge with a 1-10 record after their 45-42 non-league loss to Twin Springs (Nickelsville, VA).
