Vega Longhorns (Vega, TX) backers were pleased Monday as they saw their basketball squad knock off the host Wildorado Mustangs (Wildorado, TX), 65-47 in a non-league bout.

With the victory, Vega upgrades its record to 2-7 on the campaign. The Longhorns host Gruver (Gruver, TX) to play the Greyhounds in a non-league bout on Tuesday, January 3. The Greyhounds come into the bout with a record of 6-0. Gruver won 53-20 in their recent non-league bout against Caprock (Amarillo, TX)

Next up, the Mustangs play the Wheeler Mustangs (Wheeler, TX) in a 2A Region I District 2 bout, on Tuesday, January 3. Wildorado will attempt to upgrade on its 6-6 season record. The Mustangs come into the bout with a 5-5 record after their 49-47 non-league loss to West Texas (Stinnett, TX).
