North Carolina High School Basketball - Mitchell holds off Ashe County

The Mitchell Mountaineers basketball team scored 63 points and limited the visiting Ashe County Huskies to 58 in the Mountaineers non-league triumph on Thursday.

The Mountaineers now possess a 3-3 record. They play next when they host Enka for a non-league game on Monday, December 23. Mitchell will confront a Jets team coming off a 71-66 non-league win over Smoky Mountain (Sylva, NC). The Jets record now stands at 6-5.

With the loss, Ashe County falls to 3-4 on the campaign. The Huskies travel to Apex Friendship (Apex, NC) to confront the Patriots in a non-league game on Thursday, December 26. The Patriots go into the game with a record of 6-3. Apex Friendship won 64-57 in their recent league game against Green Hope (Cary, NC)
