The crowd at Thursday's non-league challenge between the Spruce Mountain Phoenix (Jay, ME) and the host Winthrop Ramblers (Winthrop, ME), observed Spruce Mountain's basketball team overwhelm Winthrop by a margin of 70-46.

The Phoenix (4-0) will now prepare for their challenge against Yarmouth (Yarmouth, ME). The Clippers come into the B South challenge with a 3-1 record. In their last challenge, Yarmouth trounced Waynflete (Portland, ME), 70-51, in a non-league challenge.

In their next game, the Ramblers battle the Old Orchard Beach Seagulls (Old Orchard Beach, ME) in a C South challenge, on Saturday, December 21. Winthrop will attempt to better on its 2-3 season record. The Seagulls come into the challenge with a 1-4 record after their 52-50 non-league loss to Wells (Wells, ME).
