In Wednesday's non-league outing, the Watauga Pioneers (Boone, NC) basketball squad overwhelmed the visiting Shelby Golden Lions (Shelby, NC), by a count of 66-13.

The Pioneers (8-1) will now prepare for their outing against Charlotte Catholic (Charlotte, NC). The Cougars go into the non-league outing with a 9-0 record. In their last outing, Charlotte Catholic smashed Charlotte Country Day School (Charlotte, NC), 62-42, in a non-league outing.
