Springport Spartans (Springport, MI) backers were in high spirits Thursday as they witnessed their basketball squad thwart the host Homer Trojans (Homer, MI), 55-40 in a non-league bout.

With the win, Springport upgrades its record to 6-2 on the season. The Spartans travel to Maple Valley (Vermontville, MI) to clash with the Lions in a Big 8 bout on Thursday, January 4. The Lions go into the bout with a record of 4-4. Maple Valley lost 36-35 in their recent non-league challenge against Galesburg-Augusta (Galesburg, MI)

Next up, the Trojans play the Manchester Flying Dutchmen (Manchester, MI) in a Cascades challenge, on Tuesday, January 9. Homer will attempt to improve on its 1-6 season record. The Flying Dutchmen come into the challenge with a 1-7 record after their 61-30 non-league loss to Concord (Concord, MI).
