Howell Highlanders (Howell, MI) backers were pleased Thursday as they saw their basketball squad hold off the visiting Pioneer Pioneers (Ann Arbor, MI), 49-46 in a non-league bout.

With the victory, Howell upgrades its record to 3-2 on the campaign. The Highlanders travel to Canton (Canton, MI) to play the Chiefs in a Kensington Lakes bout on Friday, January 6. The Chiefs come into the bout with a record of 2-4.

Next up, the Pioneers play the Saginaw Trojans (Saginaw, MI) in a non-league bout, on Wednesday, December 28. Pioneer will attempt to upgrade on its 2-3 season record. The Trojans come into the bout with a 4-2 record after their 72-57 non-league win over Ford (Detroit, MI).
