The Smiths Station Panthers (Smiths, AL) basketball knocked off the visiting Opp Bobcats (Opp, AL), 57-49 in Thursday's non-league test.
The Panthers (6-5) will now prepare for their test against Russell County (Seale, AL). The Warriors go into the non-league test with a 9-3 record. In their last test, Russell County went down by Charles Henderson (Troy, AL), 80-56, in a non-league test.
The Bobcats now own a 5-7 record. They play next when they travel to Pike County for a 3A Area 4 test on Friday, January 6. Opp will encounter a Bulldogs squad coming off a 80-58 non-league loss to Georgiana (Georgiana, AL). The Bulldogs record now stands at 2-6.
