El Campo Ricebirds (El Campo, TX) backers were in high spirits Friday as they witnessed their basketball squad tip the visiting Waltrip Rams (Houston, TX), 57-55 in a non-league bout.

With the win, El Campo upgrades its record to 3-9 on the season. The Ricebirds travel to Pflugerville Connally (Austin, TX) to play the Cougars in a non-league bout on Thursday, December 28. The Cougars go into the bout with a record of 9-8. Pflugerville Connally lost 60-56 in their recent league bout against Georgetown (Georgetown, TX)

Next up, the Rams play the Sharpstown Apollos (Houston, TX) in a 5A Region III District 19 bout, on Monday, January 8. Waltrip will attempt to upgrade on its 4-7 season record. The Apollos go into the bout with a 4-13 record after their 64-54 non-league loss to Westbury (Houston, TX).
