Lumberton Pirates (Lumberton, NC) backers were in high spirits Saturday as they witnessed their basketball squad thwart the visiting Whiteville Wolfpack (Whiteville, NC), 72-62 in a non-league bout.

With the win, Lumberton upgrades its record to 4-4 on the season. The Pirates host West Columbus (Cerro Gordo, NC) to clash with the Vikings in a non-league bout on Thursday, December 28. The Vikings go into the bout with a record of 1-2. West Columbus won 81-15 in their recent non-league bout against Union (Rose Hill, NC)

Next up, the Wolfpack clash with the North Brunswick Scorpions (Leland, NC) in a non-league bout, on Thursday, December 28. Whiteville will attempt to upgrade on its 2-5 season record. The Scorpions go into the bout with a 8-1 record after their 76-48 league win over Topsail (Hampstead, NC).
