In Thursday's non-league contest, the visiting Joppatowne Mariners basketball team scored a good 70-59 win over the Long Reach Lightning.

The Mariners (7-1) will now prepare for their contest against Glen Burnie (Glen Burnie, MD). The Gophers come into the non-league contest with a 2-1 record.

In their next game, the Lightning battle the Mt. Hebron Vikings (Ellicott City, MD) in a Howard County contest, on Friday, January 3. Long Reach will attempt to better on its 1-4 season record.
