Martinsville Bulldogs (Martinsville, VA) backers were in high spirits Wednesday as they witnessed their basketball squad thwart the visiting Orange County Fighting Hornets (Orange, VA), 47-38 in a non-league bout.

With the win, Martinsville upgrades its record to 5-3 on the season. The Bulldogs host Bassett (Bassett, VA) to play the Bengals in a Piedmont bout on Tuesday, January 2. The Bengals go into the bout with a record of 3-8. Bassett lost 71-53 in their recent non-league bout against North Stokes (Danbury, NC)

Next up, the Fighting Hornets play the Western Albemarle Warriors (Crozet, VA) in a Jefferson bout, on Wednesday, January 3. Orange County will attempt to upgrade on its 6-4 season record. The Warriors go into the bout with a 7-3 record after their 53-52 league loss to Albemarle (Charlottesville, VA).
