The Plainfield Cardinals (Plainfield, NJ) basketball nipped the visiting St. Augustine Prep Hermits (Richland, NJ), 45-40 in Wednesday's non-league test.

The Cardinals (3-4) will now prepare for their test against Hillside (Hillside, NJ). The Comets go into the Union County test with a 2-3 record. In their last test, Hillside was tipped by Summit (Summit, NJ), 48-42, in a league test.

The Hermits now own a 5-2 record. They play next when they travel to West Caldwell Tech for a non-league test on Friday, December 29. St. Augustine Prep will encounter a Eagles squad coming off a 58-43 non-league win over Roselle Catholic (Roselle, NJ). The Eagles record now stands at 3-2.
