Monticello Sages (Monticello, IL) backers were in high spirits Wednesday as they witnessed their basketball squad tip the visiting Clinton Maroons (Clinton, IL), 49-42 in a non-league bout.

With the win, Monticello upgrades its record to 4-9 on the season. The Sages host Hoopeston (Hoopeston, IL) to play the Cornjerkers in a non-league bout on Tuesday, January 2. The Cornjerkers go into the bout with a record of 8-6. Hoopeston won 56-25 in their recent non-league bout against Paxton-Buckley-Loda (Paxton, IL)

Next up, the Maroons play the Tuscola Warriors (Tuscola, IL) in a non-league bout, on Thursday, December 28. Clinton will attempt to upgrade on its 9-7 season record. The Warriors go into the bout with a 13-1 record after their 62-23 non-league win over Gibson City-Melvin-Sibley (Gibson City, IL).
