Ephrata Mountaineers (Ephrata, PA) backers were pleased Wednesday as they saw their basketball squad knock off the visiting Hempfield Black Knights (Landisville, PA), 53-39 in a non-league bout.

With the victory, Ephrata upgrades its record to 6-1 on the campaign. The Mountaineers host Solanco (Quarryville, PA) to play the Golden Mules in a Lancaster-Lebanon 2 bout on Tuesday, January 2. The Golden Mules come into the bout with a record of 0-2. Solanco lost 25-14 in their recent non-league bout against Warwick (Lititz, PA)

Next up, the Black Knights play the Red Lion Lions (Red Lion, PA) in a non-league bout, on Tuesday, January 2. Hempfield will attempt to upgrade on its 2-4 season record. The Lions come into the bout with a 3-5 record after their 57-30 non-league win over Hershey (Hershey, PA).
