Mercer County Golden Eagles (Aledo, IL) backers were in high spirits Wednesday as they witnessed their basketball squad tip the host Erie-Prophetstown Panthers (Erie, IL), 50-47 in a non-league bout.

With the win, Mercer County upgrades its record to 9-6 on the season. The Golden Eagles travel to Lena-Winslow (Lena, IL) to play the Panthers in a non-league bout on Friday, December 29. The Panthers go into the bout with a record of 13-4. Lena-Winslow won 45-39 in their recent non-league bout against Morrison (Morrison, IL)

Next up, the Panthers play the Stark County Rebels (Toulon, IL) in a non-league bout, on Friday, December 29. Erie-Prophetstown will attempt to upgrade on its 5-8 season record. The Rebels go into the bout with a 1-14 record after their 62-24 non-league loss to Monmouth-Roseville (Monmouth, IL).
