Gillespie Miners (Gillespie, IL) backers were pleased Wednesday as they saw their basketball squad knock off the host Greenfield/Northwestern Tigers (Greenfield, IL), 56-40 in a non-league bout.

With the victory, Gillespie upgrades its record to 13-4 on the campaign. The Miners travel to Calhoun/Brussels (Hardin, IL) to play the Warriors in a non-league bout on Thursday, December 28. The Warriors come into the bout with a record of 10-3. Calhoun/Brussels won 43-39 in their recent non-league bout against Williamsville (Williamsville, IL)

Next up, the Tigers play the New Berlin/Franklin/Waverly Vipers (New Berlin, IL) in a non-league bout, on Friday, December 29. Greenfield/Northwestern will attempt to upgrade on its 1-7 season record. The Vipers come into the bout with a 9-7 record after their 44-26 non-league win over Lincolnwood (Raymond, IL).
