The crowd at Friday's non-league challenge between the Hawthorne Bears (Hawthorne, NJ) and the visiting Leonia Lions (Leonia, NJ), observed Hawthorne's basketball team overcome Leonia by a margin of 52-40.

The Bears (2-3) will now prepare for their challenge against Ridgefield Park (Ridgefield Park, NJ). The Scarlets come into the non-league challenge with a 1-2 record. In their last challenge, Ridgefield Park defeated Indian Hills (Oakland, NJ), 70-65, in a non-league challenge.

In their next game, the Lions battle the Palisades Park Tigers (Palisades Park, NJ) in a non-league challenge, on Friday, January 3. Leonia will attempt to better on its 1-3 season record. The Tigers come into the challenge with a 2-3 record after their 56-43 non-league win over College Achieve (Asbury Park, NJ).
