In Friday's non-league test, the Sterling Rangers (Baytown, TX) basketball squad knocked off the visiting Brazoswood Buccaneers (Clute, TX), by a score of 38-29.

Next, the Rangers encounter the Nederland Bulldogs (Nederland, TX) in a 5A Region III District 19 test, on Friday, January 3. Sterling will attempt to improve on its 5-13 season record. The Bulldogs come into the test with a 3-12 record after their 65-19 league loss to West Brook (Beaumont, TX).

The Buccaneers (4-17) will now prepare for their test against Channelview (Channelview, TX). The Falcons come into the non-league test with a 1-12 record. In their last test, Channelview was knocked off by North Shore (Houston, TX), 77-11, in a league test.
