The Hickory Red Tornadoes (Hickory, NC) basketball nipped the host Alexander Central Cougars (Taylorsville, NC), 43-39 in Wednesday's non-league test.

The Red Tornadoes (9-1) will now prepare for their test against Maiden (Maiden, NC). The Blue Devils go into the non-league test with a 11-0 record. In their last test, Maiden got by Newton-Conover (Newton, NC), 51-46, in a non-league test.

The Cougars now own a 7-4 record. They play next when they travel to Newton-Conover for a non-league test on Thursday, December 29. Alexander Central will encounter a Red Devils squad coming off a 51-46 non-league loss to Maiden (Maiden, NC). The Red Devils record now stands at 6-5.
